Gaura was born, and is currently based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. She has her ancestral roots in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Gaura completed her Bachelor of Design in Moving Images from MRID, Faculty of Fine Arts at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 2021 with her graduation internship at the National Film Archive of India as a Film Preservation Intern, and has since worked on short films, product photography, short documentary films, social media and content creation, corporate videos, magazine articles, and brand building amongst other things. Most recently she worked at CEPT University as a Teaching Associate with Prof. Dinesh Abiram. Currently, she is pursuing her Master's in Information Design at the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands.

She is passionate about exploring interdisciplinary narratives, primarily using the audio-visual medium, and has been enjoying working on projects that introduce her background as a filmmaker-photographer, to experimental and diverse skills like cartography, exhibition and data design.
